RBST show York - preceding the Sale - 5th October 2012

Llanwenog interbreed champion yet again– for an unprecedented 4th year in a row. This really is an impressive performance for the breed and breeder, Philip Hodges, Charndon Flock. The York RBST show had about 140 entries this year, with a large – competitive - turnout of Primitives, Ryelands and other Native breeds. So it is particularly pleasing that the Llanwenog has made such an impact at the show in recent year and is appealing to new breeders. At the sale, the Charndon yearling ewes sold well (av £145) and a Tallantire ram lamb went to a new breeder who plans to cross with Shetlands for butchers lambs.

Three Counties Show June 2012

It rained & rained for the first two days of this show but on Sunday the weather was fine but the showground was a quagmire – especially in the cattle rings. The Llanwenog classes were rather smaller this year and judged by David Henson (Bradden Flock). The Champion Llanwenog was awarded to Jill Bennett (Tallantire Flock). Her yearling ewe went on to the Hill & Heath Section against a Kerry Hill, Balwen & White Faced Woodland and after much deliberation was judged Reserve Champion. Other Llanwenog Breeders were seen in the Cattle Lines: Charles Horton with his Shorthorns, Jonathan Crump with Gloucesters and Andrew Bomford with Longhorns.
